British Colonial Design. Colour & Texture, the colour and texture of a typical British colonial home is rich and vibrant, thanks to the varied influences on British culture. Usage of bold animal prints and bright fabrics makes the style thrilling and textured. While decorating a British colonial style room, opt for quiet and subtle colour palettes; choosing shades of berry, forest, sky or sea, pale yellow, light foam green, pastel blue and soft red would be an excellent idea. These colours create an island bungalow appearance but if you want a neutral look then use deeper shades in contrast to lighter ones to evade a ‘washed out’ appearance.
Bedroom — the most special part of your home, a place where you unwind after a hectic day at work is one place that merits great attention and care when it comes to decking it up. Unlike any other room in your home, bedroom embellishment should be done based on your ideas though you can take leads from the experts. Every bedroom has a soul that is just the reflection of its interiors. Creating this soul requires great effort and knowledge of the taste and nature of its dwellers.
Develop Themes. It could be better if you could find a good summer theme for your interior. It could be anything related to summer, ranging from fruits and flowers to insects to marine themes and more. If you are selecting a theme, make sure that your furniture upholsteries, curtain and decors co-ordinate with the theme. Now you have a fair idea on how to decorate your home this summer. Plan it according to your budget.
The Victorians era was mainly known for its orderliness and classic ornamentation that is well reflected in their décor too. The Victorians believed that “emptiness” revealed poor taste and status and hence, they stacked their rooms with heavy furniture and furnishing and every available corner of their homes overflowed with knick-knacks. All said and done, nothing says timeless elegance like Victorian homes. Step back in time, get inspired by Victorian home décor ideas, and give your home a classic twist.
