To help you fight the forces that drag you down, consider re-examining your home lighting. Whether screwing in halogen, fluorescent or LED bulbs, know that "anything is better than nothing," says Pat Tomlinson, a lighting consultant at The Lighting Gallery by Brown's in Anchorage. (See sidebar at right for Pat's tips on choosing light bulbs.) Adding lamps, installing track lights, or simply switching out dim bulbs for brighter ones will have an instant effect on the room, and one's mood.
Consider Your Lifestyle. Your lifestyle plays an important role in terms of the design of the kit home you choose. To effectively choose a home to suit your lifestyle, try to picture yourself living in the house five to ten years from now. Will you remain single, or marry and have children? If you're going to have children, how many kids do you want? One of the main benefits of a kit home is that it can really be flexible and that you can modify it to suit your needs over time.
